So much for the Toyota Way explained in the marketing books that “Toyota’s own engineer goes and sits in the parts’ vendor workshop” to allegedly “help the vendor resolve production & design issues”, the proper way to translate it is that “Toyota is a bully who pressurizes their suppliers into submission at salve-driving speed and exorbitantly low prices” and that “Toyota deliberately outsources troublesome work to special-purpose vehicles to avoid bad press and to develop a punch bag for when it is necessary”.
“Lack of communication” just means the principal is a big monopolistic customer who throws its weight around and doesn’t listen to anyone.
