Manufacturers have been working on developing new materials which reduce brake dust:

Will these Euro 7 brake pads make their way to Pakistan?

Another method to altogether eliminate brake dust is to use regenerative braking. EVs and hybrids use this mechanism.

Euro 7/VII had been announced in Nov 2022:

https://dieselnet.com/news/2022/11eu.php
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/features/new-euro-7-emissions-regulations-threaten-premature-end-petrol/

And in a few months publications about its impacts have begun:

https://www.fuelsandlubes.com/fli-article/euro-7-impacts-on-engines-fuels-and-lubricants/
https://prod360.lubrizol.com/2023/How-Euro-7-Will-Impact-Fuels-and-Lubricants

Euro 7 (for petrol vehicles) will go into effect from 01 Jul 2025 (2.5 years margin). Euro VII (for diesel vehicles) will go into effect from 01 Jul 2027 (4.5 years margin).

Euro 7/VII completely changes how we understand emissions standards! In the future, not only Euro 7/VII compliant fuels and Euro 7/VII compatible vehicles will come, but Euro 7 compliant tyres and Euro 7 compliant brake pads will also be marketed. Possibly Euro 7 compatible silencers will also come if they decide to control vehicle noise through Euro emissions regulation (just so we remember noise pollution is also an emission worth controlling through emissions regulation). Discussed here: https://carspiritpk.com/evs-will-eat-tires-faster-than-ice-cars/#comment-12507 blood microplastics is a serious new problem and Euro standards will take care of it.

There are some publications on how Euro 7 will affect automobiles and automobile industry. But there is no news on what oil refineries should do to come up to the level of Euro 7. Similarly, there are no articles on the challenges to be faced by tyre manufaturers and brake pad manufacturers, and which technical path and R&D budget have major tyre manufacturers allocated. As we know, since 2035 new ICE vehicles will be forbidden from sale in Europe, however the tyre emissions and brake emissions standards will continue to remain relevant even when EVs are the norm.

Certain gases, vapors, and particulate pollutants are restricted in their emission from any process and from specific processes. phoodle
