Yes of course, a used Mehran with it’s floors literally rusting off is a better deal than a used JDM with rust proofing from the factory… It’s a shame that used JDMs “rust to dust” so easily ðŸĪŠ

but there is a problem, used local cars no matter how many decades old are gold & gem, but slightly used JDM cars are trash 😀

Agreed. And the most important part; you can always make more new cars relative to demand, but you cannot make more used cars. In the case of used cars, what’s there is there, so supply is limited.

…unless you open up used JDM imports, then you can get more supply 😉 but I guess it’s “bad for the economy” and “hurtful for the local company’s investments” or whatever… ðŸĨą

The used cars can never be a global substitute for new cars. This cycle can not sustain itself.
Maybe for one individual customer, the preference can be a choice between a small new car or a larger used car. It is also understandable that someone will prefer a used car of renowned brand name over a new car of not-well-known origin.
But if an entire country or the whole world began doing this, at one time or the other all the used cars will be in scrapyards and there will be no new cars and no used cars as well. (Or maybe some businessman will find out a way to manufacture used cars – as absurd as it may sound.)
A used car is available in the market because once upon a time someone bought that car as brand new.

And trust me, once you buy new, you’ll never gain the same satisfaction in buying used. Let me draw a parallel: If you have always been buying new clothes/shoes, what would you feel about buying used clothes/shoes?
New is new & 2nd hand is 2nd hand.

Not everyone is in the market for used cars, Khurram. People buy new cars because they are new. It’s like telling someone to buy a used Samsung for like 5-10k instead of complaining about new phones being over 20k. It makes no sense. People are complaining about the lack of availability of any new options in that price bracket, which is a big problem.

It is indeed a shame too that the only affordable consideration Middle class people have for an affordable car is a used car. When the only vehicles you can afford around 10lacs price are used beat up vehicles, it becomes a problem. If there is still no affordable option around that price bracket, even used vehicles will then have their prices increase, which will also make them ultimately unaffordable in the end. Then what do you propose? That people buy used motorcycles instead?

They had announced that they are no longer importing kits from Dahe for the Bravo a very long time ago (but still did price increases citing “freight charges and dollar increase” as excuses, very suspicious!), and only now they are discontinuing. Meaning that absolutely nobody from that time to now actually bought these vehicles. Ouch.

But then as said in the article, they only played themselves by thinking the consumers in this modern day and age are still dull enough to buy an obsolete model sold as new. Even PakSuzuki who is known for selling obsolete models for decades and decades is now slowly modernizing and offering newer more modern vehicles than decades obsolete ones.

Sad to see them go though, they were kind of a ray of hope for middle class people for an affordable vehicle that isn’t more than 2million in price, but a not so shiny ray of hope, in that matter…

Bolan, 9th generation Corolla, Suzuki Baleno, Indus Corolla and even Old model Cultus and Alto can be bought in the same price bracket. All of the Japanese technology based cars are much solidly built then this zero meter box that Chinese are proudly calling a car corruption at the best.
