Jazak Allah for adding to my information, however, I agree with Usman bhai the companies are often misleading their customers.
Moreover, I wouldn’t say Pakistanis are ignorant, rather, they happen to be the most careful car buyers in the world. Instead of jumping the bandwagon, they wait and measure the car’s worth first and then decide to choose it on bases of first hand experience. KIA in past has failed and it is only natural that people with limited affordability for maintenance are still summing it up and as far as I know they are going to wait for five years before falling for KIA again.
Furthermore, from your explanation I gather that for myself AWD-based S.U.V. is of no use as the only edge it can possibly give us over a sedan is a bit higher ground clearance and power. Which frankly under my given budget and driving needs is of no use. I guess I am right in saying that SUV’s maintenance is going to be higher than a sedan but almost equal to a 4*4 vehicle why then should I choose to buy a S.U.V.? If the circumstances ever allow it, I would rather go for a Toyota Hilux, it may not be comfortable but it is a diesel and has a proven track record in sandy roads of Mithi and Diplo and is not going to be that bad in terms of comfort, at least as far as price to durability ratio is concerned.

Khurram the difference between SUV and 4×4 is platform, transmision and ground clearence.
A 4×4 is always on all wheels drives, in an suv you can select if you want to be on 2 wheels drive or 4 wheels drive, the ground clearence on 4×4 is higher than an SUV to attack all terrains, and when you drive a 4×4 the drive is more rugged than in an SUV, SUV is a segment between sedan and 4×4, suv are more comfortable to drive than a 4×4, of course that’s doesn’t mean an 4×4 isn’t comfortable, but in all terrain it will be limited compared to 4×4.
So that’s mean 4×4 and SUV each have they pros and cons.
And there is a lot more but i’am not here to teach engineering.
And don’t take it badly but a lot of pakistani are ignorant about technical details of cars.

Chineses are pretty bad cars, only when associated with other brand, that’s why proton will be good (share with geely owner of volvo too).

If pakistani want to by a 4×4 i recomend them to choose the awd system because it will increase car grip, better in wet road and snowy road
And pakistani should learn to drive in a driving school and get licence in a halal way, not by corruption and driving without any knoledge otherwide they are endanger there lives and the others..

Oh I understand better now, the word utility is there just because even a city resident has to take loads in the car and while that is a load but it is not as heavy as an equipment transported in mining areas. Hence the utility purpose of these vehicles is a mediocre one but they are comfortable as their chassis are softened-up due to reduced weight gained through usage of lower power parts. Likewise, the ladder frame cannot be as comfortable as the ones that are targeted at city dwellers because their chasses had to be stiffened-up for accommodating heavier utility. Jazak Allah for the most clear explanation, may Allah increase your health and wealth.

in recent years the differentiation between crossovers & SUVs have become quite confusing & even misleading too… For eg: Honda BR-V is being marketed as an SUV however in reality its just a 7-seat MPV with SUV inspired styling.. cars like Sportage does offer AWD setup but they are classified as urban SUVs whereas those with ladder frame chassis such as Fortuner 4×4 have edge on hilly areas but the ride is a compromise on comfort in urban traveling. CUVs (Crossover Utility Vehicle) should be the most appropriate term but even then the word “utility” is still there 🙂

I thought S.U.V. stands for Sports Utility Vehicle and since utility means middle to hard rating work then it makes sense that they also come with a 4*4 set-up. However, if you have something to add to my knowledge than I am all ears?

Don’t worry Kia is targeting middle class not rich people, Kia speciality is mid-range car of course they are doing some premium car like the stinger. Kia is good in quality/price ratio.
Kia mother brand is Hyundai and Hyundai have a luxury brand Genesis, but it’s ain’t in Pakistan yet.
Of course the army will not use Kia vehicle, they aren’t stupid, army need 4×4 not SUV, but if you know the different you doesn’t need you earlier speech.

Please note, the J-70 that I am speaking about are registered in 2020 and mimic the shape of one that is being sold in Australia in new form. The class that is buying Toyota Land Cruiser neither care what amount of money the car is worth, nor they need a bunch of gadgets to look rich or prove their worth, they are very brand cautious and they measure their peers with apparent branded luxury in their possession. That is why they never look for a Huawei set and stick with Apple or expensive Samsung sets. This luxury name does not come with KIA, moreover the military officials or bureaucrats require an absolute vehicle and a broken down Sorento or that other crap is not going to do them much good. The military is still using Hino rather than Daewoo or F.A.W. or other Chinese trucks. If price or gadgets mattered why then would Hino be popular with them? The reason is proven durability and brand name and the realisation by tax authorities for giving tax benefits. These people would lose the clause cover if they bought an untrusted brand and end-up paying more than allowed maintenance expense. All these criterions are missing in KIA or any other brand. So, KIA, instead of trying to bring high-end vehicles, you would rather do well in targeting mass-car buyers, some of whom are at-least willing to give you a try, not me though, but there are people out there, so why not reach to them?
