{"id":77232,"date":"2023-12-09T09:31:16","date_gmt":"2023-12-09T09:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/?p=77232"},"modified":"2024-12-25T05:13:20","modified_gmt":"2024-12-25T05:13:20","slug":"the-obsessive-desire-of-local-assemblers-to-be-the-first","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/the-obsessive-desire-of-local-assemblers-to-be-the-first\/","title":{"rendered":"The Obsessive Desire of Local Assemblers to be &#8220;The First&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may have noticed something recently that is typical throughout most new car launch campaigns in Pakistan: the overabundance of the word <strong>&#8220;First.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><div class=\"carsp-in-article\" style=\"margin-top: 10px;margin-right: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px;margin-left: 10px;\" id=\"carsp-3683703580\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3921992284533937\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3921992284533937\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"2279435244\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>When Sazgar launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/sazgar-launches-haval-h6-hev-hybrid-in-pakistan\/\"><strong>Haval H6 hybrid<\/strong><\/a> in Pakistan, it touted the vehicle as Pakistan&#8217;s <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled hybrid vehicle, and rightly so. But Indus Motor Company (IMC) was also labeling their <strong>Toyota Corolla Cross<\/strong> as the country&#8217;s first locally produced hybrid car even before the launch. However, they were thoroughly reminded that it was the <strong>Haval H6<\/strong> that truly became the first locally assembled HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-73727 aligncenter\" title=\"SantaFe Pakistan 01\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/SantaFe_Pakistan_01.jpg\" alt=\"SantaFe Pakistan 01\" width=\"1166\" height=\"875\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hyundai then introduced the new <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/hyundai-nishat-launches-new-santa-fe-hybrid-in-pakistan\/\">Santa Fe<\/a>,<\/strong> another hybrid SUV in our market, but since Haval was already the <strong>first<\/strong> to introduce a locally assembled HEV, Hyundai-Nishat marketed their offering as the country&#8217;s <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled &#8220;<strong>7-seater<\/strong> hybrid&#8221; SUV. This was followed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/locally-assembled-toyota-corolla-cross-rolls-off-the-assembly-lines\/\">recent unveiling<\/a> of the locally assembled <strong>Corolla Cross,<\/strong> and during the line-off ceremony and the press material, the company touted it as the <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled &#8220;<strong>1.8L hybrid&#8221;<\/strong> vehicle.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-77148 aligncenter\" title=\"CorollaCross local 1\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/CorollaCross-local-1.jpg\" alt=\"CorollaCross local 1\" width=\"1024\" height=\"602\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Bear in mind that the Haval H6 HEV has a 1.5L engine while the Hyundai Santa Fe has a 1.6L unit under the hood, obviously both being hybrids are paired to an electric motor. And now MG is now proudly promoting their <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/locally-assembled-mg-hs-phev-rolls-off-the-assembly-line\/\">locally assembled MG HS PHEV<\/a> as Pakistan&#8217;s <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled plug-in hybrid vehicle.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-88875\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mg-hs-phev-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>The obsession with being the <strong>first<\/strong> just doesn&#8217;t end here. When Changan exported a <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/master-changan-becomes-the-first-automaker-in-pakistan-to-achieve-batch-exports\/\">batch of Oshan X7<\/a> CUVs, the company said it became the <strong>first<\/strong> automaker in Pakistan to achieve batch exports. Similarly, when IMC <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/toyota-pakistan-begins-exporting-auto-parts-to-egypt\/\">exported Fortuner carpets<\/a> to Toyota Egypt, it claimed to have <span class=\"story-text\">become the <strong>first-ever<\/strong> automaker to open gates to the global supply chain.<\/span><\/p><div class=\"carsp-content\" style=\"margin-top: 10px;margin-right: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px;margin-left: 10px;\" id=\"carsp-2373195250\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3921992284533937\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3921992284533937\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"2279435244\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-74277 aligncenter\" title=\"oshan export 2\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/oshan-export-2.jpeg\" alt=\"oshan export 2\" width=\"1024\" height=\"435\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Going back further, DFSK launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/dfsk-glory-580-pro-launched-in-pakistan\/\">Glory 580 Pro<\/a> in December 2020 touted as the <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled <em>intelligent<\/em> vehicle in Pakistan to come equipped with voice command functions. Interestingly, Proton began assembling the <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/local-assembled-proton-x70-rolls-off-the-assembly-lines\/\">X70<\/a> locally in January 2022, more than a year after it was first unveiled, and they too touted it as the <strong>first<\/strong> intelligent SUV to be assembled in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-76045 aligncenter\" title=\"SERES3 02\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/SERES3_02.jpg\" alt=\"SERES3 02\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t become bored just yet because there are many more <strong>first<\/strong> cases in our market. Regal Automobiles recently launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/seres-3-launched-as-pakistans-first-pure-electric-locally-assembled-suv\/\">Seres 3 EV<\/a> which they promote as Pakistan&#8217;s <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled electric SUV. Bear in mind MG has already introduced a couple of EV offerings but they come as CBU imported units. Now Dewan is also touting the <strong>Honri Ve<\/strong> as Pakistan&#8217;s <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled electric hatchback.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-50243 aligncenter\" title=\"Peugeot2008 launch cover\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Peugeot2008-launch-cover-e1647149570671-850x478.jpg\" alt=\"Peugeot2008 launch cover\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Peugeot2008-launch-cover-e1647149570671-850x478.jpg 850w, https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Peugeot2008-launch-cover-e1647149570671-250x141.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When Lucky Motor Company (LMC) introduced the <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/peugeot-officially-launches-operations-in-pakistan\/\">Peugeot 2008<\/a> crossover in Pakistan, the company CEO Asif Rizvi speaking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/peugeot-officially-launches-operations-in-pakistan\/\">launch event<\/a> said his company was set to change the automotive landscape of Pakistan by introducing the <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled European brand in the country. Similarly, when LMC introduced the Kia Sorento, it was labeled as the <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled vehicle in Pakistan to have 6 airbags as standard, and the <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled vehicle to have a V6 engine option under its hood.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38645 aligncenter\" title=\"Sorento_IMG_20210214_120835_1\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Sorento_IMG_20210214_120835_1-850x478.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Sorento_IMG_20210214_120835_1-850x478.jpg 850w, https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Sorento_IMG_20210214_120835_1-250x141.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In 2019, when Pak Suzuki <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/pak-suzuki-launches-alto-660cc-in-pakistan\/\">launched the 8th gen Alto<\/a> as a replacement for the 30-year-old Mehran, it became the <strong>first<\/strong> locally assembled 660cc kei car in Pakistan. Going further back into the past, when United <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/united-bravo-launched-in-pakistan-priced-at-pkr-8-5-lac\/\">introduced the Bravo<\/a> hatchback in 2018 it claimed it as the <strong>first<\/strong> Pakistani car brand, disregarding the fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/the-story-of-adam-revo\/\">Adam Revo<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/remembering-the-proficient-pakistans-first-locally-produced-automobile\/\">Proficient<\/a> were already among the celebrated attempts to launch Pakistan&#8217;s first homegrown vehicle brands.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17131 aligncenter\" title=\"Bravo_Launch_01\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Bravo_Launch_01-850x478.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Bravo_Launch_01-850x478.jpg 850w, https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Bravo_Launch_01-250x141.jpg 250w, https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Bravo_Launch_01-1200x675.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Bravo_Launch_01-640x360.jpg 640w, https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Bravo_Launch_01.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And there are countless other instances where Pakistan&#8217;s auto industry was fortunate to receive a <strong>first<\/strong>-of-its-kind vehicle. To conclude, let us draw attention to the fact that the Proton Saga in Pakistan is the <strong>first<\/strong> and only vehicle of the modern era to be fitted with hydraulic power steering.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-39835 aligncenter\" title=\"Saga test drive\" src=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Saga-test-drive-e1620421602158-850x478.jpg\" alt=\"Saga test drive\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Saga-test-drive-e1620421602158-850x478.jpg 850w, https:\/\/carspiritpk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Saga-test-drive-e1620421602158-250x141.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the looks of it, there will always be a <strong>first<\/strong> whenever an automaker attempts to bring a new product to Pakistan.
