Direct quote from the second article you have linked to (using translator):

The article maintains that Xiaomi did the better job here.

CSPK article states “Former BMW chief designer Chris Bangle acted as the SU7’s design consultant.”
If elements are copied, I think its to give it an esthetic that will appeal even to western buyers.
