You are right. The market is changing and for the better with better technology. Unfortunately some people here just can’t handle change.

China is a market car of 25 million cars at least each years, they can reach 28 million, but if we are considering the 25 M, well the byd ev only represent 1.3% market share in China.
This project is still undergoing, how well it will go ? And it is only to be sold in China, Toyota remains careful, and of course they mentionned the reliability and durability :

“Their long-term quality is still a question mark”

Now some people may think a little more about chineses car duraility in long term it just dosn’t exist, Toyota is better, the only Chinese brand who can be good is Geely because of their partnership with the Premium Volvo and mid-range Proton (previous Owner of Lotus also).

The bus in Karachi from above hyperlink looks like a BYD K8.
Sammi Daewoo used to be the best bus service, they utilized Daewoo buses. Bus recently Faisal Movers have captured the market, most of their buses are Yutong Master. Even Niazi Express and other transport companies have begun using buses from Yutong and Higer. These are up-to-date buses with high seating position best for tourism and come with air suspension, very comfortable ride.

About trucks: FAW & Dong Feng (basically the Nissan of China, initially it was named Second Auto Works as it was established after FAW, later on name changed to Dong Feng meaning east wind) so many. Gandhara Nissan are their dealers as well.
Foton, Howo, CNHTC Sinotruck. Virtually all of them offer powerful and reliable Mercedes engines, radial tyres and ABS etc.
Chinese trucks are modern as in they come with projector headlights mounted at a low height as such does not glare in the eyes of other drivers, pedestrians and this feature is specially useful when adjusting the truck at loading/unloading dock in the confined spaces of factories/godowns etc. Even the newly released Nissan Quester (https://www.udtrucks.com/news-and-stories/press-releases/heavy-duty-truck-quester-launched-in-pakistan) has a very pleasing visual appeal, many suitable options for the driver/helper and low bumper height just the same height as any passenger car, making our roads safer. It has Euro5 engine (low smoke woohoo) and 370 hp.
Meanwhile Hino is stuck on old technologies, conventional refractor headlights that everybody … even PakSuzuki … stopped selling in 2004. Old smoggy engines. High bumper height. But “chalta to hai”. Bas nabz chlti ho aur sans ata ho. Talk about low standards. As if durability is the only KPI that should matter.

Yes, the Japanese busses were the dominant ones on the roads, just as American and Europeans were the dominant ones before them. However, recently I seem to be seeing more and more Chinese branded trucks and loaders etc. on the roads some of which are being made (not just assembled) in Pakistan.
