Hoping the best that it will solve the Achilles’ heel of the Changan Karvaan, which is excessive RPM in all gears, especially in 5th gear. If the engine gives 42% better power at 20% increase in displacement, then it quite good. Also, if it gives 20% improved efficiency despite 20% increased displacement, needs to be verified meticulously that is it a general trend or only under specific conditions.

The company website has been updated with the promotional banner https://changan.com.pk/karvaan-mpv/ and lists the ex-dealership price as “Karvaan Plus 1.2 MPFI PKR : 2,999,000/- Freight & CVT incl.*”However the scroll down and see the spec sheet, it is not updated.

It is also not clear that from June 2024, whether Karvaan Plus can be had with an option of 1000cc or 1200cc, or whether the 1000cc will be available only in Std and Plus will only come with 1200cc. Downloading the brochure https://changan.com.pk/upload/Karvaan-Brochure.pdf, the updated brochure only mentions Karvaan Plus whereas Std is nowhere to be found. Gear ratios and final divide aren’t mentioned so there’s no comparison to be done between the old gearbox and the new one.

Neither the company nor PW blog uses the correct terminology for the steering assistance system which is electric power steering, not electronic power steering.
