Oh. But Toyota Prius or Toyota Axio post-2014 is not dispensable and as far as I know Toyota Prius’s 1997 and 2003 or even the latest models are quite advanced to live this long in Pakistan, but they seem to be doing really well. Their adaptability at low maintenance cost in Pakistan has been proven for past five to ten years now, maybe 12th gen Corolla is also going to do as well. It is afterall also known as maintenance friendly car and my cousin from the U.S. reports that the Corolla has not lost its charm with maintenance cost oriented people.
Moreover, is not I.M.C. upgrading its plant as Toyota had to do it with its other plants? Also isn’t Corolla 12th generation offered in different suspension set-ups, I remember in one of the articles published by your portal that one suspension set-up has been devised for rough terrains? Maybe I.M.C. is going to be able to put hybrid engine and both suspension set-ups. One thing more, what is a subscription model? I hope that it is not similar to annual fee we pay for buying services.

i think its not just going to be the Chinese cars but any other car including the Japanese ones.. You see Toyota and Suzuki are successful in Pakistan primarily due to simpler engineering, less gadgetry and their ability to perform in local conditions, even you would admit. But the modern breed of cars are not like that. That’s probably the reason why IMC has to delay the launch of 12th gen Corolla in Pakistan even when elsewhere it is in its third year of production already. They just cannot deploy their tried & tested engines in 12th gen which they did by putting the 2NZ-FE in 9th, 10th & 11th gen Corolla. Plus TNGA architecture means the cars deliberately sits lower to the ground in order to provide better stability and enhanced driving experience, something that goes against the local logic of raising the ride height to avoid speed bumps, which has been done to the Yaris which made it look so odd-looking at times. Also the set of electronic assistance in new Corolla and the engines that it offers will require the same level of extra maintenance, patience & money to be spend as any other modern Korean, or Chinese car of this era. So yes interesting times ahead, cars are no longer what they used to be and the subscription model will soon become a norm in developed markets which are already way ahead of us. The impact will reach us sooner or later, but I believe a smoother transition to the ‘new’ would be a lot better for all of us rather than experiencing the ‘new’ all of a sudden which won’t be less than a collapse for most of us!

You see people are used to owning Chinese electronics that can be disposed off when showing signs of wear. however, cars are a lot different and require a heavy investment afterall therefore, it is not as easily dispensable
