Absolutely correct. This is what FAW did with their XPV when they launched it. It’s basically a Chinese version of the 10th gen Suzuki Every, which is still 2000s technology nevertheless.

They must have a superior product first. Marketing and strategy comes second. It is useless if they don’t bring a good product. Just a few upgrades over a 42-years old Bolan or Ravi means getting 20-years old tech instead of 42-years old tech. It is still obsolete, just less prehistoric than the other.

Exactly, these companies have yet to set foot and properly expand and set their range and market to firmly fight against the Bolan. Otherwise it’s just another CKD/CBU Chinese option in the market with limited production like the rest

Bolan isn’t the only choice. FAW XP-V and Changan Karvaan are available but their value proposition is worse than Bolan. The larger cabin, sliding/reclining front seat, 5th gear, front disc brake, booster brake, larger/wider wheels and projector headlight is not value enough against the cons: chitankoo body panels, poor behaviour at dealerships, not many dealerships, high fuel consumption, high RPM gear ratios, lots of engine noise, frequently breaking wheel bearings and unavailability of spare parts, all the while the list price is higher than Bolan.

How much effort does it take to dethrone something as pathetic as Bolan?

Same! Microvans here are like the top choice for people who want to haul their families. Right now only Bolan seems to be the most readily available and cheapest choice, which is a terrible shame. Almost no competition in this sector

Of course, that’s the norm and it’s the cheapest price for these assemblers 😆

I for one am looking for some change to the mass commuter sector. Better vans mininvans and microvans. Better trucks minitrucks and microtrucks.

The investment plan include introducing various types of passenger cars including hatchbacks, sedans, crossovers & SUVs.

Very interesting! Looking forward to see what kind of middle class consumer grade vehicles they launch here in Pakistan. They were willing to launch small affordable Datsun vehicles but that didn’t work out thanks to the whole Carlos Ghosn fiasco and Nissan laying out and closing unnecessary plants.

They’re launching Chery CUVs first (following the same strategy like the others) but I’m mostly interested to see what small car and sedans they’re willing to launch in competition of Kia Picanto/Suzuki Cultus and Changan Alsvin/Honda City/Toyota Yaris.
