Meanwhile, superior intellectual Khurram’s Nobel prize worthy suggestion is to ban suparis, colas, cigarettes and Pizza Hut (why specifically Pizza Hut though? we’ll never know…) simply because they are causing a bigger dent in the economy than luxury cars. His suggestion is that we should ban every single foreign product in our country, effectively killing off any kind of trade so that we can finally become like North Korea. 👏🙆‍♂️

OK Khurram, enlighten me. You say I’m wrong. How and where? Rather than your usual colorful and vague remarks, if there is something, tell me and let correct it.

Always willing to learn. 👍

The reason is that closure of legal channel is forcing people to smuggle such cars into country and even if ten of them are gotten through illegal means it is a loss for Pakistan.
Moreover, considering the generation of numeric value by local automobile industry to entire GDP it is insensible to disallow import of luxury cars amid the import of cosmetics, Pakistan’s third or fourth largest import item, and juices and biscuits. Therefore, if the government really wants to contain reserves it must place a ban across the board on all items rather than just hitting an item that is not even causing a material impact on the economy.

P.S. Why the government is still allowing Pepsi, Supari, cigarettes and Pizza Hut and other brands’ products? These products should be subjected to same regulations because they are causing a mighty dent to the reserves. The reason that these products are still being allowed is lack of common sense in Pakistani society these days.

It is a large wonder that Pakistan is still surviving with exceptionally illiterate beings like you Ali Khan and your comment also goes to show that an illiterate would remain one regardless of how many leaves of high education he is covered in.

I wonder what is the ratio of exports to imports with japan and/or japanese companies? Yet they are the ones who, through their constant meddling and influencing of our auto policies (through PAMA), are solely responsible for the state that our auto industry is in today.

And the best part of the con; japan can easily say it does not sell much to us directly in CKD kits because their local partners just buy CKD kits from their other partners in the region. What an alibi.

I believe the auto sector needs serious overhauling. One policy fits all is not working. We need to compartmentalize. Those countries or companies who are giving more benefit to our nation need to be treated differently than those who are just using our country as a dumping grounds for their overpriced, under spec. products. Different tax brackets reflecting such differences must be considered.
