I think Usman Bahi’s comment above is the answer to this. It is all about fleet average CO2 emissions. Lamborghini has more models and makes more cars that are used as daily drivers in many countries. That means its fleet wide CO2 emissions have a higher impact meaning it has to comply by the rules. That is why it must focus on hybrids and finally EVs if it wants to survive.

Pagani can dodge it but only until 2035. It will hit the wall then. so it better pick up the pace or risk going under. still its their choice. For now anyway.

Mind you, all these companies especially the Italians are fighting the 2035 deadline tooth and nail but I think it is to no avail because as far as I know their efforts were all shot down by the climate legislators. They have no choice but to comply.

good point.. the emission regulations are based on how much carbon they emit. Each carmaker can have a maximum fleet average of 95g of CO2/km and that’s exactly why the Jimny was discontinued in UK. Considering this, its easy to understand how much mass-produced cars which are thousands in number that run for several thousand kilometers are going to produce carbon emissions versus a supercar maker that produces a handful of exotics that are very occasionally run for a few kms before being garaged.

How many of them do you see on the road? How many inexistence for that matter?

Are they mass produced transport for the masses?

You do know that its cars are collector items. Very high performance, yes, but are primarily bought by rich collectors as investments that only ever cruse around places like Monaco or see the insides of expensive auction houses as commodities to be sold (as collector items). Very few actually drive them as they were meant to be driven.

EV for such companies doesn’t make sense, if they choose not to pursue it at this time. However in the long run, they will be the ones hurting if they do not pick up the pace. Don’t forget, Europe has a strict deadline for 2035 for the ban on all ICE cars.

And by the way. when a lot of governments, of many countries and whole regions like Europe, put up a deadline for the ban on the sale of ICE cars in favor of EVs. Any rational thinking person would surmise that EVs are the way forward and are the future. If they were failing, Why would governments put up such bans on ICE cars?
