We actually get newer cars as used cars from Japan.
If this rule from the used cars import is applied to these zero meter local cars (I will not use the word “New” because they are older models) this local Wagon R will also be replaced along with almost everything in Pak Suzuki lineup. Ravi, Bolan Wagon R; even the cultus will be in the firing line.
Like the saying goes: what’s good for the goose, is good for the gander.
If this rule is good for the used cars, it is good for the local assembled cars as well. No local model older than 3 years for local assembled cars and no older than 5 years for local assembled SUVs.

Great thinking indeed! I completely forgive PakSuzuki and IMC for their shenanigans just because they have expanded their parts network in the country to the point where I can easily find parts for my Cultus from my local Cholay wala.

the middle class is getting parts from plastic bowls ki dukan, if they upgrade to new model it wont be the case. so in a broader perspective Pak suzuki and iMC chief are thinking in betterment for middle class… 😉

Also, this Suzuki Wagon R itself is now 11 years old now! Initially introduced as Maruti Suzuki Wagon R for the Indian market in 2010, it was then launched in Indonesia in 2013, which gave us the greenlight to import the kits for these, finally getting them in 2014. Now India discontinued this model long ago in 2019, and now Indonesia as well, but in our case…

And other thing. In Pakistan we have a limitation of upto 3 years old for cars and 5 years old for jeeps for the used car imports. Maybe it is time to bring that stipulation to the local assembled zero meter cars as well.
Even the darling of the local crowds, the Corolla, will have to be updated then because it too is a NINE YEAR OLD car!
No matter how many midlife crisis updates you give it by slapping plastic bits on it or giving it a “black interior”. It doesn’t hide the fact of it’s true age.
