I think the Sienta is an awesome option for a very capable family car. Not only do you get the un-questionable quality of Toyota, you get the authentic quality of a JDM Toyota which is better in every way than the locally assembled ones by far. Many have attested to this by acknowledging that Pakistan’s automotive sector, from a technical stand point, is the weakest in the world. I do agree with that. We have serious quality issues with the locally assembled cars with genuine cases of airbags not working in crashes or cars literally split in two because of failed cruise controls causing a massive crash; The local companies using their influence to bury such news rather than fix the issues. Allegedly 😉
The Sienta is a proper 7 seater. Depending on the model, it also comes with “captains chairs” in the second row. They are big chairs with arm rests on both sides and cup holders in the center. They provide maximum comfort for the second row passengers. Best for our elders. You loose one seat in the middle of the second row but that is no big deal. On top of all that you get a lot of tech (mentioned in the article). The best feature that it has is by far the rear sliding doors with auto open and close function. You can open the doors with a push of a button or have the driver open and close the doors for you. How cool and luxury is that? Any local cars have that in that price range?
Even with the 3rd row seats in place for passengers, it has ample storage space. With the 3rd row down, it has a huge cargo space. You can even fold down the second row of seats (middle row) for max cargo space for when you need it. Like I said, this is a very versatile family vehicle.
On top of all that, it has the JDM Toyota quality and is a JDM Toyota hybrid, the original and best hybrids in the world as agreed to by many. In that price range, it just can’t be beat.
Think about it, what do you get locally, the Alsvin, the Yaris, the City, or even the Corolla (keeping the price between 30-37 lac roughly). All are 5 seater, sub-compact and compact, sedans with not much space. You get the minimum amount of tech for the maximum markup such as bog-standard central locking or push start. On top of that, to get any of the local cars you will have to wait months or pay a hefty own to get one from the own mafia.
Not only is the Sienta the immediate option, it has all the benefits mentioned above.
The Sienta is an option that is very hard to beat even if you are just getting a used JDM. It is still far better than the local stuff. Other than that, it is everyone’s own personal choice what to get.
As for the “expensive parts” debate. This is a Toyota, the “best automotive brand in the world”. If treated well and looked after, this car will not be needing parts that often and will serve you well for a very long time. Not much of an issue.
