The solar Prius was only available in japan. The article states:

The model was only available in Japan and lacked the oomph to charge the vehicle’s battery for a range of more than 6km.”

Articles from 2019 talks about how Toyota tried again (in 2019) to revive the solar concept. We still have heard nothing. Just like Toyota to start something and not finish it. Almost four years and counting… Still in their “conducting trial and test” phase. What is their motto here. “Let everyone pass you by and then just ask them to make it for you?” 🤣

Here is a true solar car. it will be available this year or the next I believe:

So their “conducting trial and test” is taking so long that they are now behind everyone else and are asking Chinese brands to make technically sound (EV) vehicles for them.

Is that an example of good management or bad management? 🤔

You’re not gonna catch anyone’s attention with it when everyone and their nannies are making EVs. 😑

It is called conducting trial and test and then launching a whole new level of product perhaps an illiterate man like you would never appreciate the depth of management concepts because your thought process is shallow.

They launched Solar Prius a long time ago, offered EVs in the 90s, and even entered luxury car market and revised its entire operations. It remains an interesting case for study for graduates and maybe that is why so many articles about Toyota Way are available in online libraries of Universities.

But, even today, after decades, it still has to make the tech go anywhere. Instead, what it is focusing on, are anti-EV propagandas, very inefficient hydrogen combustion engines instead of very efficient hydrogen fuel cell vehicles; WHICH THEY EVEN HAVE IN THE MARKET! It was the first to make a commercially viable EV, the Rav4 EV back in the 90’s. but Toyota squandered the opportunity. Instead of selling it leased the vehicle just like it is doing now in Japan with the bz4x. In the end the EV Rav4s were shelved.

It did a JV with tesla in the 2010’s but backed out laughing at the tech. Yeah! that was mature and an “informed decision”. 🤦‍♂️

This CEO of Toyota needs to go if this company is to have any chance of surviving.
