You are right. It has a five star rating there.

However that is our point here. Regardless of whether they are Japanese or Chinese etc. companies, where these companies know that stringent quality checks are present, both from independent institutes and from governments, they all follow strict guidelines and standards.
Where they know they can get away with a lot, like in Pakistan or even Mexico, they will try and cut corners.

I think you are absolutely wrong. All Pakistanis (regardless of age, gender, driving experience, social level, etc.) deserve these death traps because “most” Pakistanis are TERRIBLE drivers. If some family of 7 gets smashed into in their Bolan by some drunkard, its completely fine and they totally deserve it!!! I don’t understand why Imran Khan is going around in a bullet proof vehicle, he should be driving in the beloved and cherished Suzuki Cultus like a true Pakistani. 🤪🤷‍♀️ /sarcasm

Exactly. No company will care about altruistic values if they’re not forced to. Their number one priority is always making money and if they can make more by cutting corners, they will go for it if nothing stops them.

The thing that they don’t understand is, these are just companies. In the name of profits, they will cut corners where possible. No one company is holier than the other. The article that you have shared; the same Chinese brands are introducing low(er) safety vehicles in one market, yet where they know the safety scrutiny is higher, they are introducing better cars. Even the Japanese companies are doing this. At least in other countries, people and governments are waking up and demanding better standards. In Pakistan, it is still just lip service.

All of them do this. Chinese or Japanese. The thing is, as you pointed out, a matter of perception… or in our case, decades of conditioning.

If us Pakistanis are such bad drivers, then it makes sense that we should prioritize getting the 5 star rating cars; no matter the brand. Better safety for bad drivers.
The issue of trust is just decades of conditioning.

Even worse, some of them think Pakistanis DESERVE the one star rated Toyota branded death trap and should be thankful for it, just cause some Pakistanis drive poorly on the road! These people think a 5 star rated Chinese vehicle is absolute lies and heresy while a 1 star rated “Japanese” vehicle is passable and should be trusted blindly. What a joke!
