Sorry for the late reply. You are right. I read this and I too was very saddened by the fact that everywhere else leaders are able to make well informed decisions to benefit their nations. Only in Pakistan we are not able to make heads or tails of the auto industry or how to control and monitor the auto industry players to ensure they bring innovation and new skills to the local market.
Look at how Bangladesh started their EV policy the right way. Even their banks are pitching in to help. Shows national pride.
Look at where we are. EV policy passed in Pakistan. But still people are struggling to even get their electric vehicles REGISTED!!!

In the latest news, a consortium of 5 financers came together in Bangladesh (former East Pakistan) to support the dream of national EV.

I agree with you totally brother, Mr. Ali Khan must come forward, I am sure he could find guys like Mr. Truong and his friend as well. Then perhaps, they would actually learn difference between actually doing a business and acting the keyboard warrior.

You are absolutely right. No businesses in Pakistan will come together on something like this.
The reason is not, I think, one of ego. It is one of greed. The current players will do whatever possible to hinder and discourage such an entry.

But, local brands aside. The new policy does not even push the current local companies to expand assembly to completely meet local demand in order to reduce delivery times to less than a month across the board. It does not even push them to expand production for exports.
Like you said… unfortunate.

There have been attempts to get indigenous auto marks going in Pakistan.
Unfortunately, unnecessarily complicated and convoluted red-tape bureaucracy, which is extremely slow to do anything, and corruption have always been a problem for any start up industry in Pakistan especially in the auto sector.

https://carspiritpk.com/the-story-of-adam-revo/

These guys did attempt to start something. But, along with an unreceptive and unsupportive government, auto sector players at the time also had a hand in making sure they fail. Every step, from getting permissions to getting land to even getting something as simple as electricity supply was made hell for them; read the story of proficient.

The problem is with us and our leadership past or present who just cant seem to get past the advice of the same “experts” who have a vested interest in misleading them.

On top of that, no one business or businessman in the country thinks for the national good. Its everyone for himself. To hell with doing it for the country or promoting local made brands. They will make their fortunes selling “dubba pack” imports. No matter if they cost the nation and are a burden on the economy. They will make their profits. Nothing else matters.
Shame 😢

Why don’t you become an engineer and do it yourself ? Why aren’t you are wealthy enough to build your car industry ? stop your nonsenses.

Sadly, there is no real passion of manufacturing vehicles, even if it is for long term national and economical profit. Every assembler here is just here to make quick money, and the cheapest fastest way to it is to sell CBUs and CKDs as “local” models.

I mean that is why the government allows this assembly drama to continue. They’re getting quick cash injections for it instead of thinking about long term economic profit and allowing laws to make manufacturing possible.

The answer is up there: “In June 2018, Turkey’s 5 industrial giants– Anadolu Group, BMC, Kök Group, Turkcell and Zorlu Holding – joined hands[…]”.

In addition to your questions which are equally valid, one of the problems in Pakistani culture is unjustified egotism. Do you think 5 of our business conglomerates would come together for a national goal? It is so unfortunate.
