2018 Toyota Yaris Cross Revealed

Crossovers have lately become extremely popular all around the world with sales constantly on the rise. Industry analysts believe that crossovers will overtake sedans in terms of sales volume in near future. Automakers around the world are working hard to offer impressive crossovers in their lineups.

Now Toyota is readying an international launch of the new Yaris Cross. Aimed primarily at emerging markets, the Yaris Cross is essentially a rugged crossover version of the Yaris hatchback.

The Yaris Cross gets typical crossover-like styling changes on the outside. This includes roof rails, black cladding on the side and wheel-arch mouldings and a brush metal skid plate below the front and rear bumpers. High-end trims will come with leather seat upholstery, automatic climate control, an HD instrument cluster, two additional speakers and contrasting red stitching on the steering wheel and gear knob.

The Yaris Cross is powered by a 2NR-FE 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine that produces 108 hp and 140 Nm of torque, mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The Yaris Cross will be first introduced in South Africa followed by other international markets later this year.
