Pak Suzuki’s 2024 Sales: Alto Leads with 65% Share

The Suzuki Alto, a favorite among Pakistani car buyers, has again solidified its market leadership by contributing an impressive 65% to Pak Suzuki’s total sales in 2024. This outstanding performance underscores the vehicle’s broad popularity and pivotal role in the company’s continued success, reaffirming Alto as the top choice for budget-conscious consumers across Pakistan.

Of the 64,259 units sold by Pak Suzuki in 2024, the Alto makes up an impressive 42,072 units. While this remains a significant share, it represents a slight decrease compared to the previous year’s 70%, as the Suzuki Swift has gained traction, securing an 11% share with 6,921 units sold in 2024.

The rest of the Suzuki lineup shows a dismal picture with Cultus and Wagon R both securing just a 5% share with 3,100 and 2,925 units respectively. Keep in mind that what was once a month’s worth of sales just a few years ago has now dwindled to a full year’s sales. Boland and Ravi contributed with 4,608 and 3,622 units for a 7% and 6% market share, respectively. The newly launched Every minivan saw 1,011 units sold in 2024 for a 2% share of the market.

The main reason behind the Suzuki Alto’s huge success is the tough economic situation in the country. Even though its price feels unreasonably high, it’s still the cheapest mass-produced car you can buy. With the skyrocketing cost of new cars, even people who would normally go for entry-level sedans or 1000cc hatchbacks are now choosing the Alto in large numbers.

The Alto’s got a lot going for it—great fuel efficiency and a surprisingly roomy interior, thanks to its longer wheelbase, which is more generous than some larger hatchbacks. Plus, its compact size makes it super easy to handle in traffic and a breeze to park just about anywhere.

Despite some quality concerns, Alto’s strong sales reflect its enduring popularity among a wide range of consumers. Available in four trim levels, the price of Alto starts from PKR 23.31 lac for the bare-bone VX version and goes as high as PKR 30.45 lac for the top-spec VXL AGS variant.
