Within a few days, there another “PAID PARTNERSHIP” on PW Blog. As usual it twists the definition of existing terminology into something that isn’t, and opportunistically invents new acronyms to suit the occasion.

Features that have been standard across the board since ages or a bare-minimum legal compliance — such as seatbelts, ABS, ISOFIX anchoring and immobilizer are being promoted like they’re a unique God-sent from heaven.

Parking sensors are being lauded in an era where even 660cc dinkies are coming with 360° camera.

Making fun of oneself takes some extraordinary level of self-confidence and belief in self. Only the most courageous beings can do it.

About the fuel efficiency, it has been published before that Corolla Cross isn’t the most fuel efficient hybrid in Toyota’s garage.

This video clarifies the deceptive marketing Toyota is now using. Instead of actual EVs, it is terming/claiming its hybrids as EVs; and it has been fined in Europe for this.

I have been looking into this combined HP figure of the Corolla cross and things do not make sense. It has a petrol engine that puts out 96HP. It has an Electric drive motor that puts out 72HP. But in what situation will you get the full benefit of both the systems working together. It will be most probably in the Sport mode; which will be heavy on the fuel. Also, in normal city drive you will be using either the petrol engine or the EV mode separately. and the electric motor might assist in the start/stop situations. So effectively you will mostly be using the 96HP petrol engine by itself. That seems underpowered. I also checked and the tested pure EV range of the Cross is only 2KM!!! 🤯. Even Toyota Japan in their spec sheet for the cross do not give the combined figure because they know it is not accurate. Maybe they only give it in markets where they know they can get away with it still.

By extension, that means that the combined figure for any hybrid is misleading. It only gives the output of the system in certain situations only and not in day to day driving.

The 1.8L hybrid is rated at 120HP max system power (Petrol and Electric combined). Yet Indus is claiming 196 HP. That is the total combined power for the 2.0L version of the Cross.
