Rant? So I rant. You advice me not to insult other people and yet it’s okay for you to use word rant against me, yet you wonder that I should accept the long and illogical rigmarole posted by you over here.
Firstly, Bolan and Ravi are commercial vehicles and therefore, cannot be compared with Mehran. Secondly, Mehran’s quality got worse, remember buyers of Mehran do not seek what is being sought after by buyers of Bolan or Ravi, which reduced its cost to profit ratio even than what a Baleno, 8th and 9th generation Corolla can give you and these could be bought under the same budget and at the same time offer you a larger life cycle ratio. Is not this a competition, the company realised that Mehran’s fuel average is not anymore able to cover the replacement cost of its parts. Thirdly, where exactly did you hear that Alto is a good replacement? The car has not even been in the market for more than three years, already people are lamenting that its body parts are expensive but are realising that it is still worth a buy because its fuel consumption is rendering them a reasonable cover for their expenditure.

P.S. please do not insult the concepts such as life cycle by merely writing them because you are seeing other people do it, it is a vast concept and has an arcane meaning and cannot be explained in few lines.

P.P.S. As for newer Civic getting cheaper, well, firstly America is developed and Pakistan is merely primary and consumption based economy. It does not has the same level of technical infrastructure as the U.S. because of several comprehensive factors that cannot be explained over here.

This guy clearly tells that if Honda kept selling 2000 model Civic (US market) then in 2000 it was $14,930 but only adjusting for inflation it would have cost $22,500. In comparison the 2022 Civic is more improved but only costs $20,000. Despite the R&D expense and increased manufacturing cost, the car is still cheaper.

This is how things get more expensive with time unless you continuously create new technology.

(In Pakistan cars are more expensive because market is hostage oligopoly cartel and the technology creation is not indigenous. In the US the free market reigns and competition is better. But despite those shortcomings each model change in Pakistan is an improvement as can be seen by 2nd gen Alto {Mehran} vs 8th gen Alto.)

It is not about choosing to ignore. Some of the things you write are really good arguments. But you write a lot. And most of it is nonsense flaming on other commenters. Just keep to the topic and keep it succinct. It is really too much to read to find the needle in the haystack. This is good. All of us want this. Yet when the other commenters note that the existing 3 companies are selling poor quality at high profit ratio you are the one to fight them tooth and nail and argue for the right to profit of these companies. Higher quality means less frequency of repair. No over-profiteering means low purchase price. All of us are on the same page.

One more point: Running expense is also the most important factor aka fuel average. Mehran VX was launched in 1989 at 90,000 and was discontinued at 789,000 in 2019 while the replacement Alto VX was priced at 999,000. A difference of 210,000.
The purchase price of Mehran kept increasing from 1989 to 2019 and from your own sharing, the 2012 Mehran was better quality than a 2017 Mehran. In other words 2017 Mehran was higher purchase price and higher repair cost (because lower quality is not durable I don’t know much about but your own comments about the bumper are scattered over the place) than 2019 Mehran. And this is why technology change is important. Commodities always go up in purchase price because manufacturing improvement cannot be done to them. Once a product has reached the status of a commodity in its lifecycle (aka commoditization), only a new technology can bring any worthwhile reduction in purchase price or running expense or repair cost (in all 3 factors or any one of these factors).

Being cheap is expensive. Buy a 789,000 rupee Mehran and get the fuel efficiency of a 90,000 rupee Mehran even at the higher price OR buy a 999,000 rupee Alto and get the fuel efficiency of a 999,000 rupee car. So in this type of case it is a dilemma. A technology in Alto increased its purchase price but also decreased its running expense and your own comments are published in this website somewhere praising its fuel efficiency).
So all of us see the same way, no need to pick on others or to be irritated by what they post because what others post is exactly what you want. As far as Bolan and Ravi, they will also be replaced by a slightly more expensive (purchase price) model but having better fuel average (aka running expense) because it is the same engine as Alto.
Keep hoping for the Bolan not to die OR be positive for another product that’s going to be expensive upfront but will recover that cost in running expenses.

Unless you know more about English than the dictionaries, I believe that I spelt correctly but like I said your intention was negative and so you went by the word because of its connection to textile. 
Secondly, did you mention you do not assume? Well, you presented my comment to Hay again, did he not assume that I have money to buy a new Bolan and that the Bolan requires heavy repair cost? Aren’t both actions supposed? The notion about Bolan is already rejected by the market by the way. Or is Hay doing so okay because he is educated and he can do it? Next, you say A.G.S. is new, you even shared my replies? Thus, I can safely say that you have been ardently following through with each comment I have posted in the past. Then why did you choose to ignore my love for Suzuki Baleno, it was modern for its time? As for A.G.S. being knew, is it an embellishment? Is it expensive to repair as compared to old transmission set-up of Bolan? Same goes for a E.P.S…

It doesn’t have most of the technologies from that quoted article. But

Isn’t AGS a new technology?
VXL has ABS. ABS isn’t a very new technology, but still new enough that Bolan can’t be fitted with ABS. Cultus also has electric power steering, a new technology. Why not prefer hydraulic power steering, an old technology.
And anyway Cultus is newer than many other options so profess what you confess, you’d choose the old one, but it is your brother whose doing the purchasing and apparently there is a difference of opinion.

My my, firstly I am honored to know that my comments are being remembered and are becoming a cause of turn to two or three people. Secondly, I think I stated that my income Allhamdulillah ranges between PKR 15,000 to 45,000 a month so I mostly walk and do not even own a second hand Bolan.
Thirdly, the words that you are quoting over here, were said by me on behalf of myself and my uncle and people who still like Bolan and other older cars.
Thirdly, this A.G.S. Cultus is being booked by my brother and he is completely against Wagon R or Bolan or for that matter, any type of second hand car. By the way, I am surprised at you, A.G.S. is automatic and Bolan is manual so when I mention A.G.S. Bolan is definitely then ousted out of the option. However, since you wanted to insult me, you misread my sentence and tried pilling dirt on me, hopefully in future you would maintain civility and remember that due to this attitude I have gaslighted certain Pakistanis.

Good point! And if I remember correctly, he did mention that he actually owns and drives the older Suzuki Cultus (2nd Gen) and that he is also quite happy and pleased with it, so hearing that he is going for the new Cultus with newer technology and features is quite surprising to me 😮

Can I dare to ask you that New Cultus (Celerio 2017+) has many of the newer technologies in it, and other vehicles with much older technologies are available in the market as zero meter or second hand then why would you prefer Cultus over them?
