Very good point!

That is the dilemma. Like I said, even the people who are supposed to be in-the-know are clueless. That is why these people will take full advantage.

From Hiroshi Kawamura’s comments we can easily surmise that these guys know what is going on in the auto industry of Pakistan and how they have manipulated it for their own gain. They couldn’t care less! We know from their track record (Multiple cases from Mitsubishi, Nissan, Daihatsu and Toyota) they will continue to exploit a situation until they are caught; even in Japan. This country is a god-sent for them. Lack of rules, lack of clarity on what is going and easily “persuadable” rule makers. What more could they want? its a perpetual free meal or until they bleed us dry.

MY point exactly sir.

What they are doing is akin to “time-pass” and no actual serious effort.

Malik cited a shortage of essential raw resources, technological constraints, and insufficient localization as the main problems.

This should be read as “…cited perpetual cry-baby syndrome, never-ending greed, incompetence of local businesses, lack of long-term vision, stone-heartedness, zero patriotism, always-complaining attitude and the reliance on others (victim mindset) as the main problems“.

These companies are sitting on billions of rupees of cash and even with these resources they behave like damsels for which someone else will come to cure their problems. Someone get them a therapist please.
Instead of giving their bhashan to impressionable children in universities, motivational speakers like Qasim Ali Shah and Dr Javed should go and teach their philosophies to these large conglomerates and business associations.

By: WP.29 compliance? https://carspiritpk.com/paksuzuki-to-explore-car-and-component-exports/#comment-14662 Sun, 01 Oct 2023 11:57:26 +0000 https://carspiritpk.com/?p=73677#comment-14662 Wait!
Flabbergasted!

“Hiroshi Kawamura, Chief Executive of Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited […] said Suzuki has modified its cars to comply with a number of WP.29 requirements, reiterating its dedication to providing Pakistanis with affordable vehicles.”

Does the whole article begin with a lie?

The sentence gives the initial impression that he is talking about the cars being made by Suzuki Japan which have complied to the select WP.29 requirements. Then in the same breathe he talks about so-called “affordable” vehicles for Pakistanis. Does he want to say that Suzuki is fairly well able to meet the WP.29 because the tech exists – but to make the vehicles cheaper to build, Pak Suzuki has deferred compliance? Did this guy just manage to insult Pakistanis 2-3 times in 1 sentence?

The date for complying to select WP.29 requirements was 01 July 2022 – over a year ago.

28 June 2022:- https://carspiritpk.com/pakistan-adapt-vehicle-safety-standard/

And it was ignored by the car, bus, truck, rickshaw and motorcycle assemblers:>

24 July 2022:- https://carspiritpk.com/shortlisted-wp29-regulations-yet-to-be-implemented/

Ever since, have you seen any news coverage, press release or launch article by Pak Suzuki about their cars or motorcycles about this WP.29 compliance?

Remember this article:- 26 Dec 2021 https://carspiritpk.com/mandatory-airbag-requirements-might-put-an-end-to-these-cars These cars haven’t ended – extremely stubbornly these death traps are still on the market.

Have you seen any info by any other auto assembler about their WP.29 compliance?

Did you find any difference in vehicles of the same make & model which were delivered till 30 June 2022 and those delivered from 01 July 2022 onwards?

Pakistanis are very polite and remarkably tolerant towards foreigners — and this is how people like Hiroshi Kawamura are able to blatantly lie on public forums in front of journalists and face zero repercussions.

that’s the irony, which shows they are least concerned about keeping up with time. all they want is to get one thing somehow, and keep minting money from it for the rest of their lives.still, about frequently changing models, Bolan & Ravi are here since 43+ years, Wagon R over 9 years, Corolla over 9 years, Cultus (MK2) was here for 17 years, Cuore & Alto for 12+ years and the list goes on… how much local content they tried to achieve on these cars?

I don’t understand; does he mean that models change very quickly in Pakistan? Really? The corolla is 10 years old. Any meaningful localization? The Bolan and Ravi are 40 years old? Why are they not localized? how much time is enough for these people to achieve localization of a vehicle. Under their pace of work, it means in a few years they might achieve localizing the 100 year old model T in Pakistan.

Models change every 5 years on average in the world. This person does not belong in the auto industry if he does not know this simple fact. On a scarier note if he can get away with such a blatant lie and not be fact checked by the very “journalists” who are interviewing him, how ill informed is the general public that such lies are openly uttered by these “industry leaders”?

Models change very frequently. Its very common. If these people cannot keep up with that pace, it is their problem and their mismanagement that is to blame not the pace of the industry.

I said it once and I will say it again; Any sector where expansion and innovation are fought against by the very people who stand to benefit the most from such additions means the sector is not healthy nor is it thriving in any way.

And of course; blame the imports. The battle cry of the impotent.
