The updates include thoroughly revised split headlights that features T-shaped new signature LED DRLs. Then there is a wide new grille design that tapers at each end to form what will likely be a new theme for future Hyundai designs. The grille is offered with two distinctive inserts for the ‘Standard’ with conventional mesh type pattern and ‘Luxury’ with a more shield-like design with repeating inverse triangle plates. A new bumper round out the styling changes at the front end.

Subtly widened wheel arches feature along the profile to “accentuate the SUV’s rugged and powerful character”, plus there are new 20” wheels to add to the charisma of the new Santa Fe’s side profile. Towards the rear, the tail-lamps retain the same shape as before, but features new LED signature now. A slender LED band connects the tail-lights, replacing the chrome garnish as found in the outgoing model. There is a revised bumper with grey or satin silver inserts at the rear, along with a reflector band running the width of the design.

Inside, the upper dash design remains unchanged except for a larger, button-free 10.25-inch display to replace the 8.0-inch unit used before. A large 12.3-inch digital instrument display also sits behind the steering wheel plus there is a big new center console that sits higher to create a lounge-like effect.

The Santa Fe’s drive-by-wire transmission now gets a push-button gear selector replacing the traditional lever, and a set of new system controls are arrayed across the top of the console. For the first time, the Santa Fe features a Terrain Mode selector, allowing options – such as sand, snow and mud, as well as eco, sport, comfort and smart modes – to be selected via the rotary dial on the right-hand side of the console.

Hyundai hasn’t given information related to the new Santa Fe’s engines at this stage however it is being reported that the new Santa Fe will have both hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains offered for the first time while traditional gasoline engines will also be available alongside. The availability of hybrid powertrains means the new Santa Fe will be more economical and cheaper to run than the current gasoline-powered model.
