Like most other assemblers, LMC (Lucky Motor Company) also had quite a disappointing experience in 2023 suffering from dismal sales numbers.

While stats of PAMA member companies are officially shared by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association, data for non-PAMA member companies including Changan, Kia, Peugeot, DFSK, United, MG, and Proton is generally unavailable. But thanks to Auto Journal we now have the data for Kia and Peugeot cars, both of which are assembled in Pakistan by LMC.
According to the data, the Sorento was the slowest-selling vehicle in Kia’s lineup with just 509 units sold throughout the calendar year 2023, for a dismal monthly sales average of around 42 units. This is also 70% less than the 1,682 units of Kia Sorento sold a year earlier in 2022. The Stonic was another model that was unable to surpass the 1,000 units mark in the year. Only 816 units of Kia Stonic were sold in 2023 versus 1,701 units sold in 2022 rendering a 52% decline in sales. The monthly sales average turns out to be just 68 units.
Kia Picanto saw 1,929 units sold in 2023 compared to 4,498 in 2022 resulting in a 57% decline in sales. The monthly sales average of Picanto dangles around 160 units. Kia Sportage continues to be the highest-selling model in the lineup, and it has been like this ever since the vehicle was introduced by LMC in 2019. According to the data, 3,252 units of Sportage were sold in 2023 compared to 7,630 units in 2022 showing a decline of 52%. Sportage’s current monthly sales average is 271 units.
Overall, LMC sold just 6,506 units of Kia cars in Pakistan in calendar year 2023 versus 15,511 units sold a year earlier in 2022. This renders a 58% plunge in sales. LMC also assembles the Peugeot 2008 being the only model under the French brand’s umbrella. Exactly 1,000 units of Peugeot 2008 were sold in comparison with 1,590 units sold a year earlier for a 37% decline in sales. Overall, Peugeot 2008 sales were less impacted than Kia’s, which had its numbers reduced in half.
