The 840 HP Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 2018

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is an absolute tarmac eating beast. It churns out 840 HP and 770 lb-ft of torque from a supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 making it the most powerful American car in production. What does that mean exactly? Well, it goes from 0-60 mph in an eye-watering 2.3 seconds and from 0-136 mph in just 9.6 seconds; a time which can give the likes of European supercars a run for their money.

It uses the same 6.2L Hemi as its little brother, the SRT Hellcat, but to up its performance, Dodge fitted it with much bigger supercharger and instead of using conventional cooling, it routes refrigerant from its air conditioner system through a chilling unit that helps drop the temperature of the ambient air by up to 45 degrees before the supercharger stuffs it into the cylinders. In order to get 840 HP from the engine, you have to fit it with a special computer that allows you to put in 100 octane fuel. But even with 91 octane fuel, it manages to squeeze out 808 hp and 717 lb-ft of torque.

It uses 3 air intakes: a large hood scoop(the Air Grabber; largest ever fitted on a muscle car), one fitted in the lights and one in the wheel liner

As for how it delivers it’s blistering performance,  it is fitted with an 8-speed automatic, a stronger drive shaft and a stronger rear axle as compared to the Hellcat.  It also utilises Nikko drag radials and clever electronics that help deliver 840 horses to the road.

Dodge also managed to make the Demon 90kg lighter than the Hellcat. They did so by removing the passenger seats, fitting it with aluminium brake calipers, ripping off some carpet, removing the parking sensors and speakers (the removed seats and speakers are optional).

The Demon is so powerful that Dodge claims it can even pop wheelies.

Dodge plans on selling it with an optional called the Demon Crate that has thin drag tyres, the special computer mentioned above, a hydraulic floor jack plus some Demon branded accessories.  This supercar eater will go on sale in America in 2018 and people there can’t wait to get their hands on it.
