Almost 5 weeks after the spy shots first appeared on the internet, Proton has finally launched the all-new S70 sedan in Malaysia. The Proton S70 sedan, like its siblings the X50 and X70, is based on a Geely vehicle, the Emgrand sedan in this case.

Despite having the size of a C-segment sedan, the Proton S70 comes with a B-segment pricing which puts it head-to-head against the likes of Honda City and Toyota Vios. As reported earlier, the all-new Proton S70 is available in four variants:
- Proton S70 1.5T Executive: RM73,800 (PKR 45.07 lac)
- Proton S70 1.5T Premium: RM79,800 (PKR 48.74 lac)
- Proton S70 1.5T Flagship: RM89,800 (PKR 54.85 lac)
- Proton S70 1.5T Flagship X: RM94,800 (PKR 57.90 lac)
Under the hood, the S70 gets the same engine that propels the Proton X50 in Malaysia. The 1.5L turbocharged three-cylinder engine punches out 148hp of power and 226Nm of torque and comes paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. According to the automaker, the Proton S70 can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in under 10 seconds.
In terms of equipment, the base Executive variant comes with an 8-inch infotainment head unit (IHU),16-inch alloy wheels, fabric seats, halogen headlamps, and 6 airbags. Moving up, the Premium variant brings several upgrades to the table including LED headlamps and a taillight bar as well as leatherette seats, a reverse camera, and auto air-conditioning.
The Flagship and Flagship X options are equipped with 17-inch wheels together with a driver power seat and wireless charger. Both these variants come with a larger 12.3-inch IHU, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a 360-degree camera with 3D display. However, the Flagship X variant has an edge over the other one for having the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which includes Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and Lane Centring Assist. Other than that, there is also Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning, Automatic High Beam, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Features like sunroof and front dashcam are available as add-ons.
All Proton S70 variants are backed by a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage and come with free labor charges for 6 service sessions. The Flagship and Flagship X variants are also accompanied by a free 5-year data package that has a monthly data quota of 1GB.
