This year’s exhibition marked BYD’s European premiere of its luxury brand Yangwang, which featured the brand’s first production car, the Yangwang U8 off-road EREV SUV. The vehicle made headlines because of its capability to float on water and sail at 3 km/h or do 360-degree tank turns. It is also BYD’s most expensive mass-produced vehicle.

“We launched the first generation of DM Technology in Geneva in this hall exactly 16 years ago. That was the world’s first PHEV with DM Technology. We have made great progress since then, and today we proudly introduce Super DM technology, which has evolved to the latest generation technology. It is a highly efficient electric-based system, that prioritizes electricity for most of the drive time, which leads to dramatically lower fuel consumption, and a pure electric range of up to 115 km. As a PHEV, it also has a much longer range of over 1000 km, when fully charged and with a full tank of fuel, making it a practical option for many more consumers. With the imminent European launch of the BYD SEAL U DM-i in Q2 2024, customers will soon have the opportunity to experience many benefits of this innovative hybrid technology. BYD believes that Super DM Technology can be a pivotal force in the EV transition, allowing a broader audience to embrace electric mobility.”
