Hycan A06 EV Launched In China

Hycan is a brand by GAC-NIO New Energy Technology Company Ltd., a joint venture between Chinese automobile manufacturers GAC Group and NIO Inc., founded in April 2018 to produce electric vehicles. Later, NIO reportedly distanced itself from the JV, after which Hycan became fully owned by GAC. The name Hycan originates from Here You Can .

After having launched the 007 mid-sized electric SUV in April 2020 and Z03 electric crossover in April 2021, Hycan has now launched the A06 electric sedan in the Chinese market.

The A06 sits on Hycan’s state of the art H-GEA platform which utilizes an integrated design of the body frame, chassis, and battery pack with enhanced safety made up of 65% high-strength steel, and 20% of hot-formed steel. In the future, other Hycan EVs will also sit on this platform.

Hycan A06 is a large sedan measuring 4,965 long, 1,920 wide and 1,520 mm tall with a 2,850 mm. The dimensions are very much comparable to the Mercedes-Benz EQE. For better understanding, the 8th gen Hyundai Sonata we have here is 4,900 mm long, which makes the A06 EV even larger than the Sonata.

Thanks to its smooth profile, an aerodynamic shape and retractable door handles, Hycan has been able to achieve an impressively low drag coefficient of just 0.23 Cd. The fascia is adorned with sharp headlamps having zigzag-like LED DRLs, the rear-end has broader hips and features slim full width tail lamps.

The interior of the Hycan A06 adopts a clean design with a 10.25-inch instrument panel, a 14.6-inch floating main screen, and a flat-bottomed multi-function sporty steering wheel. Most notably, there are almost no physical buttons on the dashboard as all the functions are integrated into the central screen. You can also use voice control with ‘Little Can’ AI, which stays close to the NIO’s NOMI in terms of functions.

Hycan A06 is available with 3 powertrain options. The entry-level A06 has a 135kW (184hp) motor, the more expensive one has 160kW (218hp) while the top version gets two electric motors with a combined power output of 340kW (462hp) and 534Nm. The 0-100km/h acceleration time just is 3.7 seconds with a driving range reaching up to 630 km.

The entry-level Hycan A06 550A with a rear-wheel drive (184hp) and 63-kWh battery costs 179,800 yuan (PKR 57.92 lac). Then the 630C with 218 hp powering the rear wheels and a battery for 71-kWh is priced at 199,800 yuan (PKR 64.43 lac). The top-trim called ‘Performance’ which has two electric motors for 462 hp and a 71-kWh battery costs 269,800 yuan (PKR 87.01 lac).
