IMC Announces 6th NPD of the Year

Indus Motor Company (IMC) the assemblers of Toyota cars in Pakistan has once again announced to shut down its plant operations. This will be the 6th NPD (Non-Production Days) schedule announced by the company since the beginning of this year.

Citing a shortage of parts and inventory caused by import restrictions, IMC informed Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in its latest notification that the Toyota assembly plant will be closed from 21st July to 3rd August 2023. That’s 14 more NPDs added to a long list of non-production days already observed by the company.

The company previously declared a complete plant closure from June 26 to June 27, June 3 to June 8, May 2 to May 3,  March 24 to March 27, and from February 1 to February 14, due to an inventory deficiency.

Local assemblers, including IMC, and their suppliers, continue to battle with supply chain issues and encounter challenges importing raw materials and obtaining clearance for their shipments due to the non-issuance of Letters of Credit (LCs).
