Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport at 2019 Thai Motor Expo

Toyota is showcasing the Corolla Altis GR Sport at the ongoing 2019 Thai Motor Expo. This is the sportiest version of the Thailand-spec Corolla Altis, which is available in 6 trims in total.

The Corolla Altis GR Sport gets a number of styling upgrades helping it to stand out from the rest of the variants. Up front, there is a black grille garnish with a thick silver strip, along with silver inserts in the lower apron. There is a good use of black accents at bottom corners of the front bumper, side mirror caps, side skirts, trunk spoiler and the lower portion of the rear bumper. The 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are also specific to the GR Sport, and are not available with any other Corolla Altis variant in Thailand.

The black themed interior gets various red accents on the seats and door handles. Standard equipment includes automatic LED headlamps, leather upholstery, an 8-inch touchscreen head unit, a 4.2-inch multi-info display, automatic brake hold and paddle shifters. In terms of safety it gets 7 airbags, VSC, ABS, traction control, EBD, BA and hill start assist, reverse sensors, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert.

Under the hood the Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport gets a 2ZR-FBE 1.8 liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 140 hp of power and 177 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the front wheels via a Super CVT-i automatic transmission with 7 virtual speeds.

The Corolla Altis is also available with a hybrid powertrain in Thailand, with the Entry, Mid and High variants all employing an Atkinson-cycle 2ZR-FXE 1.8 liter with 98 hp and 142 Nm, couple with an electric motor  producing 72 hp and 122 Nm mated to an e-CVT gearbox resulting in combined system output of 122 hp.
