Toyota has teased the 2020 Yaris GR4 performance hatchback with a ‘Coming Soon’ message.

A brief video was posted on the Toyota Gazoo Racing YouTube page showing a camouflaged Yaris GR-4 being driven by the current president of Toyota Motor Corporation, Akio Toyoda, who is also known by his racing nickname Morizo.
The Yaris GR4 is based on the latest TNGA-based Yaris, which made its debut in October this year, however the G4 will differentiate itself with larger fenders and re-profiled bumpers. The engine and transmission linked to the Yaris GR-4’s all-wheel drive system remains unknown at this stage.

Earlier this year Toyota had announced to launch performance versions of each of its core models even including some of the hybrids. Toyota, once known for simple and to-the-purpose cars is on path to drastically change its image and consumer perception.
