Contrary to this, the X70 in its home market– Malaysia comes powered by 1.8 liter engine. This is a wise move since having a lower displacement engine; the X70 will gain tax benefits which will give it an edge over its rivals here. Furthermore, the Volvo-Geely sourced 1.5L turbo engine is much more powerful (176hp/ 255Nm) than the naturally aspirated 2.0L units (155hp/ 196Nm) found in Kia Sportage & Hyundai Tucson here.

Proton Saga on the other hand will be offered in three variants:

  • Standard MT
  • Standard AT
  • Premium AT

As we revealed earlier this year, the Saga too will come equipped with a slightly downsized engine to secure tax gains. Instead of the 1332cc engine, the Pakistan-pec Saga will carry a 1298cc engine under its hood with barely any difference in the output figures.
