Earlier this year it was reported that Toyota will be launching another facelift of the XP150 Vios in Vietnam, the car which is called as Yaris Ativ in Thailand as well as here in Pakistan. Now the refreshed Vios has been formally launched in the Vietnamese market.
The facelift is available in 3 variants in Vietnam. The entry-level E MT is priced at VND479 million (PKR 58.72 lac), followed by the mid-range E CVT at VND528 million (PKR 64.73 lac) and the range-topping G CVT at VND592 million (PKR 72.58 lac).
In terms of design, the Vios facelift now gets a hammerhead shark-inspired design bringing it closer to the latest design fad o Toyota cars, featuring a more aggressive front bumper that is accompanied by notched headlamps and a mix of functional and faux air intakes. The back is largely unchanged as previously, with the same taillight design, albeit the reflectors have been slightly modified.
The interior is almost unchanged but it gets a revised center stack that now accommodates a larger multimedia unit. Under the hood, the refreshed Vios in Vietnam continues to be powered by a 1.5L 2NR-FE naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 106 hp and 140 Nm paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or CVT gearbox sending power to the front wheels.
In terms of equipment, the base E MT variant comes with LED projector headlamps, new 15-inch alloy wheels, manual air-conditioning, new Type-C USB ports for rear passengers, fabric seat upholstery, a urethane steering wheel, 3 airbags (driver/ passenger/ driver’s knee), a reverse camera, ABS & EBD with BA, Vehicle Stability Control, traction control, and hill start assist.

Moving up, the E CVT improves upon the base variant with automatic LED headlamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an Optitron instrument cluster. Meanwhile, the range-topper G CVT improves on the E CVT by adding a 4.2-inch multi-info display, updated paddle shifters, automatic air conditioning, keyless entry and engine start, cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. The G-CVT is also the only model in Vietnam with 7 airbags and the Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes pre-collision warning and lane departure warning.
2023 Toyota Vios facelift in Vietnam
Bear in mind despite the fact that the 4th generation DNGA-based Yaris/ Vios has been introduced in a number of markets, the 3rd generation XP150 model continues to be sold in some parts of the world. Thailand also got two facelifts of the 3rd gen XP150 model before the 4th generation model was launched, likewise, this is the second major facelift for the Vietnamese market. However, Pakistan still gets the very first pre-facelift iteration that was phased out from the rest of the markets in 2020.
