Hyundai N Vision 74 Concept Gets Green Signal for Production

The N Vision 74 concept car may actually go into production, according to reports circulating in the Hyundai camp. The futuristic sports coupe was initially unveiled as a “rolling lab” under Hyundai’s high-performance N sublabel last year. It was created to demonstrate Hyundai’s dedication to zero-emission technologies.

Now, almost a year later, insiders claim that the N Vision 74 may be moving towards production, with a May 27th announcement and reveal being widely rumored. The sports model will likely adopt the iconic Pony Coupe moniker, paying respect to the original 1974 two-door that is widely recognized as having helped to launch the Korean auto industry.

With the production model debuting in 1975 and staying a staple of the brand’s portfolio in various guises until the 2000s, Hyundai enjoyed great success with the Pony nameplate. The classic body designs of the first-generation car and the coupe concept that came before it were both penned by the renowned Giorgetto Giugiaro.

Fabrizio Guigiaro, the son of Giorgetto Guigiaro, is now said to be in charge of the production vehicle’s design, guaranteeing that the new Pony Coupe carries over the nameplate’s famous aesthetic language. It’s unclear whether the N Vision 74 concept car’s hydrogen hybrid power system will be used in the final version or if the automaker would choose a more traditional powerplant.

The new Pony Coupe will undoubtedly continue the tradition of its forerunner and demonstrate Hyundai’s dedication to cutting-edge design and technology, regardless of the powertrain the automaker decides to use. Hyundai’s rise to prominence as a true automotive giant was established by the original Pony Coupe, and the new production model is prepared to follow in its footsteps.
