BYD Sold Nearly 1.87 Million NEVs Globally in 2022

Chinese EV giant BYD (Build Your Dreams) has announced to have sold a total of 1,868,543 new energy vehicles (NEVs) across the globe in 2022, representing an impressive year-on-year growth of 152.5% for the electric vehicles (EVs), and 137.3% for the plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

On its social handles, the company shared some more milestones. From its 1st NEV to reaching 1,000,000 NEV sales, it took BYD 13 years to achieve this milestone. But then it took just 1 year from 1,000,000 units to reaching 2,000,000 units which was a phenomenal feat. However, BYD leaped from 2,000,000 units to 3,000,000 units in just 6 months breaking all previous records.

The Atto 3, which was launched in several key markets in 2022 including Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Columbia, New Zealand, Cambodia, Nepal, Vietnam, Brazil, and Israel as well as some European markets, was the best performer. The Atto 3 was formally launched in February of 2022 and saw 229,020 units sold by the end of December 2022 (11 months only). That’s 25% of all battery-electric vehicles sold by BYD last year.

BYD is ramping up the production of its vehicles in a big way. Last month, BYD produced a record 235,215 EVs, up 150% from December 2021. Buoyed by this production ramp-up and a new cool line of EV models that are aimed at both the local and overseas markets, BYD is expanding its overseas presence through smart partnerships that help the company gain a quick footprint in these markets. The Atto 3, along with the Seal and Dolphin, will be introduced to more markets this year, while the likes of Qin, Han, Tang, and Song models continue to bolster BYD’s dominance on the global EV stage.
