Chery Sells Record 1.2 Million Cars in 2022

Chinese automaker Chery stood on top selling 1,232,727 units globally in 2022, up 28.2% year-on-year. This is the first time that Chery’s annual sales breached the 1 million unit mark. The figure includes 451,337 units sold outside of China, which is a 67.7% increase and a new record for exports.

The record annual sales came on the back of a strong year for Chery which broke its monthly export record four times consecutively in 2022, where shipments exceeded 50,000 units. According to Chery, this strong demand is driven mainly by the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 SUVs.

Chery is also leading with its technological innovation. As of end-2022, Chery has applied for a total of 25,795 patents and obtained 17,177, of which 37% were for inventions, placing it amongst the top in the industry. The company has also collaborated with the likes of Haier, Huawei, Luxshare Precision, CATL, iFLYTEK, Horizon Robotics, and other top names.

The Chinese automaker also released its new state-of-the-art 4th generation G4G15 engine which will now be installed in the new mass-produced Chery models from 2023.

In Pakistan Chery having teamed up with Ghandhara has launched Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 4 Pro crossovers in 2022. The automaker which already has seen more than 6,000 satisfied customers aims to expand its product portfolio here in 2023.
