Chery has formally launched its new Sterra ES electric sedan in China. It is built on the E0X all-electric platform, with an all-aluminum chassis design, and is equipped with air suspension combined with the CDC system. It measures 4,945/1,978/1,480 mm with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. To give an idea of its size, the Camry XV70 that we have here is 4,890 mm long and has a 2,820 mm wheelbase, which means the Sterra ES is considerably larger than the D-segment Toyota Camry.

The Sterra ES seems to have been created using the same formula that the majority of recent Chinese EV manufacturers have been utilizing. It features flushed door handles, a flowing design, a slim LED-linked light strip up front, and identical full-width LED lights at the back. Additionally, the car’s aesthetic appeal is further enhanced by the interactive lights located at the bottom. The presence of a lidar above the windscreen indicates sophisticated driving assistance features.

Inside, the design recipe continues with a minimalist theme featuring a two-spoke steering wheel, a large 15.6-inch floating touchscreen unit, and a central tunnel with a wireless charging pad. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 CPU powers the computing platform, and Huawei’s Harmony OS serves as the operating system. Furthermore, according to Chery, the cabin has more than 30 storage compartments and 23 speakers for an enhanced audio experience.
