Haima Intro

Haima, is an automotive manufacturing company based in Hainan, China and a subsidiary of FAW Group. Its principal activity is the design, development, production and sale of passenger cars and minivans sold under the Haima marque.

Haima was founded in 1992 as a joint venture between the Hainan provincial government and Mazda to produce Mazda models for sale in China. In 2006 Mazda’s share of the venture was acquired by FAW Group, and the company became a subsidiary of FAW. Haima retained the right to make and sell older Mazda models as well as use Mazda technology to underpin self-designed products.

Haima employs over 10,000 employees while its affiliated companies employ over 30,000 staff. Haima has annual revenue exceeding 10 billion RMB and has paid 10 billion RMB of grand total taxes.  By 2015, Haima reached an output of 1 million units of vehicles in a year with sales revenue exceeding 50 billion RMB annually.

The name “Haima” is a contraction of “Hainan Mazda”. Haima’s logo represents a mythical bird flying away from a rising sun.

The Haima M6 sedan

The Haima M6 is a sports sedan, as they call it, powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine producing 163hp and 220nm, mated to a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. With a gigantic 8 inch touch screen, the M6 boasts a hi-tech infotainment system called ‘MooFun‘.

Launched back in April 2015, the M6 has sold 18,384 units in China as of July 2016. Features include driver & passenger airbags, air conditioning, ABS with EBD, factory audio system with four/ six speakers, 16-inch alloy wheels, , Mp3/ USB/ iPod connectivity etc. Top of the line trim gets curtain airbags & climate control as well. Price starts from 76,800 yuan (PKR 11.8 lac) up to 102,800 yuan (PKR 15.9 lac).

The M6 sedan will be getting a mild facelift, which will be displayed at the ongoing Chengdu Auto Show. The facelift includes new bumpers & lights as well as redesigned alloy wheels.
