It’s been a busy year in the Indian automotive industry, with a slew of new vehicles hitting the market in a variety of segments, including EVs. That also means it’s time for industry professionals to pick the best of the crop as part of the annual Indian Car Of The Year (ICOTY) awards.
The ICOTY is the most prestigious automotive award in the Indian auto industry, it brings together the best automotive journalists from leading publications & portals to select the winners. The lineup of final contenders for the 2024 ICOTY has now been announced.
For 2024, the jury has picked the lineup of vehicles spanning across different segments. Notably, there are three categories for the award: Indian Car of the Year (Overall), Premium Car Award by ICOTY, and Green Car Award by ICOTY. The nominees are:

With four entries, including its flagship electric vehicle, the i7, BMW is the brand with the most nominated models this year. SUVs continue to top the list of main ICOTY contenders, with one sedan, one hybrid MPV, and one small two-door EV rounding out the group.
The automobiles are judged on a variety of criteria, including technology, design, comfort, performance, and fuel efficiency. The jury panel, comprised of nearly 20 seasoned automotive authors from prestigious publishing houses, shortlists the candidates and selects the winners. The winners across all three categories will be announced on the evening of December 20, 2023, in Mumbai.
