Great Wall Motor Company Limited (GWM) is China’s largest SUV and pickup manufacturer with over 30 subsidiaries, more than 60,000 employees and four vehicle manufacturing bases in China.
GWM has production bases in several countries across the globe including Bulgaria, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Nigeria, Russia, Senegal, Ukraine and Vietnam. The company plans to increase the number of such production facilities to 24. These production bases mainly produce Great Wall vehicles from knock-down kits.

Great Wall products are also exported to many countries across the globe including Australia, in Europe including Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Italy, Serbia, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Austria and the United Kingdom, and in South America, including Chile, Costa Rica and Uruguay.
Great Wall Motors regularly make appearances at the famous Dakar Rally. Its best rankings were achieved in the 2012 and 2013 editions, when the team finished at 6th place.
Record Breaking Sales
In China, GWM is poised to be the second Chinese carmaker to sell 1 million vehicles a year after November 2016 sales jumped 43% to 129,087 vehicles. In the first 11 months, the company has delivered 923,923 vehicles registering a year-on-year rise of 22%.
Changan Automobile Company is the first domestic Chinese automaker to top annual sales of 1 million vehicles. Last year, the state-owned company sold 1.1 million vehicles.

Great Wall received a big boost from its top seller, the Haval H6 compact crossover, which has a starting price of 80,000 yuan (PKR 12.03 lac). In November, sales soared 74% year-on-year to 70,292 vehicles.
The Chinese consumer’s infatuation with crossovers shows no sign of cooling, and Great Wall has been heavily relying on this segment. The company has created a new premium brand, called as ‘Wey’, and displayed two concept crossovers (W01 & W02) under the new brand at the Guangzhou auto show last month.

Haval H1 SUV: 6,991 units sold in November- 64,014 this year.
Haval H2 SUV: 26,039 units sold in November- 161,642 units this year.
Haval H5 SUV: 2,082 units sold in November- 20,950 units this year.
Haval H6 SUV: 70,292 units sold in November- 500,188 units this year.
Haval H7 SUV: 10,105 units sold in November- 38,051 units this year.
Haval H8 SUV: 676 units sold in November- 6,643 units this year.
Haval H9 SUV: 976 units sold in November- 10,008 units this year.
Great Wall C30 Sedan: 2,612 units sold in November- 25,301 units this year.
Great Wall Wingle5 Pickup: 9,314 units sold in November- 93,701 units this year.
Great Wall in Pakistan
On 14th November, 2008, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Luo Zhaohui, on behalf of Chinese government, delivered 15 Great Wall Sail Police pick-ups to Pakistan. These vehicles were received by the then Interior Minister Mr. Rahman Malik, who showed his sincere gratitude to Chinese generosity. Great Wall Motor Company Limited thus becomes another witness to the friendship between China and Pakistan.
Taking Pakistani land form, climate and economy into circumspect consideration, Great Wall Sail Pick-ups were selected by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. Mr. Guan Yimin, Manager in charge of South Asia Department in Great Wall Company said “It is a great honor for Great Wall Pick-up to be a witness of friendship between China and Pakistan, of which Great Wall Motor staff is proud”.

We are yet to hear an official word from Great Wall Motors regarding their plans to enter Pakistani market after the CPEC & Auto Policy 2016-21 have taken effect. Chinese auto manufacturers such as Foton, Zotye, JAC & Brilliance have reportedly shown interest to invest in Pakistan, it will be extremely good if GWM with their exciting range of vehicles are available in our country too.
