South Korean carmaker Hyundai has launched the new low-budget entry level sedan, the Reina in Chinese car market.
Based on the previous generation Hyundai Verna, the Reina has a wheelbase of 2,570 mm and will slot below the new Hyundai Verna. Powered by a 1.4 liter engine with 93 horses and 132 Nm, the Reina comes with a choice of either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
The high end trim gets an 8 inch screen for the infotainment system, which is equipped with Baidu CarLife and with Apple CarPlay. The Reina is made in China by the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture. Price is equivalent to PKR 7.9 lac for the base version and goes as high as PKR 11.7 lac when converted from Chinese yuan.

In order to attract more prospective buyers from key markets towards their brand, Hyundai is creating low cost, budget-oriented sedans exclusive to a market that meets local requirements. For instance, in India there is Hyundai Xcent, Brazil has the Hyundai HB20S sedan, and China will soon have the Reina to take on its rivals.
Most global automakers’ new cars are being designed and premiered in China and are then launched in other markets. Hyundai Verna, Chevrolet Sail, Chevrolet Sonic (rebadged Aveo), Baojun 630 (rebadged New Chevy Optra), Kia Pegas, Toyota Yaris L sedan and BMW 1-series sedan are such examples.
