Javed Afridi Announces the Launch of Local Assembled MG HS

Javed Afridi has announced the launch of local assembled MG HS in Pakistan, called the HS Essence. According to MG, it has resolved all the issues at the plant and has received the license from the government for the local assembly as well as export of MG cars from Pakistan.

On his social handles, Javed Afridi posted a picture of himself on the driving seat of locally assembled MG HS in the factory premises. He mentions that the booking of local assembled MG HS Essence will kick off from the 12th of December. The vehicle is priced at PKR 68.99 lac (ex-factory) while it can be booked against full as well as partial payment.

The deliveries will be made on priority basis with those having made the booking against full payment to received the MG HS within 60 days whereas the units booked against partial payment will be delivered after 60 days. The local assembled MG HS Essence is backed by 5 years/150,000 kilometers (whichever occurs first).

The local assembled MG HS Essence retains the 1.5L turbo engine under its hood that churns out 160hp of power and 250Nm of torque and comes paired to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Key features include LED headlamps with DRLs, LED tail lamps, panoramic roof, electrically adjustable & retractable side mirrors with heating function, smart key-less entry with trunk opener, power tailgate and welcome lights.

Inside there is a dual tone interior with leather seats, front seats with 6-way adjustments for driver & 4-way for the front passenger, 10.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3 inch TFT meter cluster, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents and multi-function steering wheel with tilt & telescopic adjustments.

Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, Traction Control, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Hill Hold Assist and Descent Control, and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). The local assembled HS Essence also comes equipped with MG Pilot which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Jam Assist, Intelligent Cruise Assist, Front Collision warning, Intelligent headlamp control, Blind spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear cross traffic alert. However, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Intelligent Speed Assist System have been disabled in the local assembled version. Additionally, Pakistan maps have been enabled in the GPS.

Renowned media personality Fakhr-e-Alam also congratulated MG Motors Pakistan on the achievement by tweeting “Shabaash Pakistan and MG Motors”. He called it a big step and mentions that left-hand-drive MG cars will also be exported to other countries generating much needed foreign exchange.
