Kia India has achieved the milestone of exporting over 200,000 units to 95 countries around the world. The feat was achieved in less than 4 years of its operation in the country.
In Q1 of 2023, Kia recorded 22% quarter-on-quarter export growth compared to the same period last year. With this, Kia continues to be the top SUV and MPV exporter (from India) for three years in a row. The latest milestone comes hardly 7 months after the company in September 2022, celebrated exporting 150,000 units from India.
Kia exported 54,406 Sonet and 8,230 Carens units, respectively, to add to the overall worldwide dispatch count. Meanwhile, Seltos has become the leading contributor, with 1,35,885 units delivered to date. Notably, Seltos was the most exported SUV in India in Q1 2023, accounting for 28% or 10,295 units. Commenting on the achievement, Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales, and Business Officer, Kia India, said:
“We are proud to showcase the manufacturing process of our next-gen Anantapur facility to the world by making, innovating, and investing in India and contributing to the government’s vision. This also showcases how India, as a manufacturing hub, is ready to cater to the growing demand for SUVs globally. Kia Seltos has always been a best-selling product innovation and continues to maintain its winning reputation even in its fourth year. We are thankful to all the customers who have loved our products in Indian and global markets. This milestone will further inspire us to innovate and lead the trends in the automotive industry while keeping our customers at the heart of everything we do.”
Kia India continues to observe the constantly evolving demand for Seltos, Sonet, and Carens in international markets including the Middle East, Africa, Central & South America, Mexico, and the Asia Pacific regions. According to the company, it shipped 9,462 units in December 2022, which was its highest-ever monthly export total.
