Kia India Reaches 150,000 Units Export Milestone in Just 3 Years

Kia India has announced to have crossed the 150,000 units export milestone while they continue to be the largest exporter of UVs (utility vehicles) in India.

According to information, Kia has shipped 150,395 units to date. It took them only 3 years to reach this milestone. The manufacturer ships Seltos, Sonet, and Carens to 95 different countries from India with export destinations including the Middle East, Africa, Central & South America, Mexico, and the Asia Pacific.

Kia started exporting cars from India back in September 2019 with Seltos being the first vehicle to be exported. In August 2022, the company recorded its highest ever monthly exports, dispatching 8,174 units. Out of total exports, Kia Seltos contributed the highest 72% of numbers followed by Sonet and Carens. The company has shipped 54,153 units during the first 8 months of 2022, making it the largest UV exporter of the year. Not to mention, Kia India was also the highest UV exporter in 2021 as well.

The South Korean automaker has been very successful in the Indian market. In fact, Kia was able to turn a profit in just 2 years of entering India. Kia reported a profit of INR 1.11 crore (after tax) for the year ended March 2021.

Kia currently has 5 vehicles under their line-up namely the Sonet, Carens, Seltos, EV6, and Carnival. The best-selling vehicle for Kia remains to be the Seltos, followed by Sonet. Kia is currently in the 5th place in the Indian market among the bestsellers. The company reported year-on-year growth of 33.27% and sold 1,66,167 units in the first 8 months of calendar year 2022. This figure is 27% higher than the same period last year and much more than the industry growth of approximately 17%.
