Japanese automaker Mitsuoka, best known for flavoring popular JDM cars with retro bodies, has just updated the Viewt Story hatchback. The retro-styled car which is based on the Toyota Yaris hatchback gets largely unchanged in terms of appearance but gets some equipment enhancements for the 2024 model year.
The current design iteration retains the quirky design theme of its predecessors, with a fascia inspired by the 1963 Jaguar Mark 2. The rounded headlights on the bulbous front are positioned near the recognizable Jaguar-style grille. Additional highlights include bumpers made of chrome and a few chrome strips running through the doors, on the retro-styled bonnet, and over the front fenders.
The rear end gets circular LED taillights, a chrome-finished bumper with embedded indicators/ reverse lights, a thick chrome bar above the license plate holder, a rear spoiler, and a rear windshield wiper. In addition, there are retro-styled 14-inch chrome-infused wheels.
Updates for the 2024 model include a larger MID screen and a Smart Entry system with Push Start that is installed as standard equipment in every variant. The rest of the things including powertrain options remain untouched. Customers can opt between 1.0L and 1.5L three-cylinder petrol engines as well as the 1.5L hybrid which is the most efficient option. Power is transmitted to the front (2WD) or all four wheels (4WD) through a 6-speed manual, a CVT, or an eCVT gearbox depending on the variant.
The 2024 Mitsuoka Viewt Story in Japan is priced as follows:
- 1.0L engine: starting price 3,225,200 yen (approx PKR 59.67 lac)
- 1.5L engine: starting price 3,621,200 yen (approx PKR 66.98 lac)
- 1.5L hybrid: starting price 4,510,000 yen (approx PKR 83.38 lac)
