Proton X70 Spotted Testing in Karachi

Al-Haj Automotive having teamed up with Malaysian automaker Proton is in process of introducing a range of vehicles in Pakistan. The company was already testing the 1.3 liter Saga sedan which it said will be the first Proton product to be sold in our market.

Now images of camouflaged test mules of the X70 SUV have surfaced indicating that Proton’s highly successful SUV will also be making its way in Pakistan. According to information, Al-Haj has imported multiple units of the X70 SUV which will be undergoing extensive trial and testing before an anticipated 2021 launch.

The X70 has been a highly successful model for Proton and has seen tremendous success breaching several sales records in its home market in Malaysia. It has also played a pivotal role in helping Proton regaining back its position as the 2nd bestselling car brand in Malaysia.

Based on Geely Boeyue, the Proton X70 comes available with both 2WD & AWD versions and is powered by a 1.8 liter TGDi turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 181 hp and 285 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, however the 2020 Malaysian assembled models will be getting the 7-speed DCT.

Features include, but not limited to 6 Airbags, ABS with EBS and BA, Auto headlights & wipers, keyless entry (with active touch sensors on the front door handles), push-start, 360-degree camera, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, climate control with smart air purifier system, electrically foldable wing mirrors, LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels etc. There is also a voice recognition support system as well as a fully-digital and configurable instrument panel, which is a first for any Proton model.
