Renault India Eyes a Comeback with New Launches in 2024

Renault India, which struggled with a lackluster performance in 2023, has a few new launches scheduled for 2024 as part of a massive comeback strategy in the Indian car market.

Although Renault did extremely well in India during its initial years, however of late Renault’s poor sales were mostly ascribed to a stagnant range amid fierce competition, in an industry where innovation and refreshment are crucial. Many new cars were introduced to the Indian market, and prices were fiercely competitive, pushing Renault’s aging model into the shadows.

Renault is introducing two new-generation vehicles, two SUVs, and one electric car as part of its attempt to win back market share. The new models – the Arkana and Megane e tech, will target varied niches in the Indian market. Renault is putting resources into localizing the CMF B platform for its vehicles made specifically for India. It is also examining the viability of launching the Arkana through the CBU route. The electric Megane e tech is also being evaluated for the CBU route, where it would face off against the likes of the Kia EV6.

The new-generation Duster is one of Renault’s most prominent offerings in its redesigned lineup. While there are few specifics known about the forthcoming cars, the introduction of the all-new Duster in international markets provides a glimpse of what’s ahead.

The Koleos SUV, which is being tested in India, might be introduced through the CKD route, expanding the company’s portfolio. Additionally, Renault may enter the seven-seater segment with the Jogger, which is built on the Indianized CMF B platform. These new additions attempt to reach a larger consumer base by offering solutions for a variety of needs and pricing points.

In the meantime, Renault has updated its existing lineup in India for the 2024 model year. The updated Kwid which is available in 7 variants, priced from INR 4.69 lac offers a few changes to the feature list and introduces new dual-tone colors. The mid-spec RXL (O) variant now gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is also available with an automated manual transmission (AMT).

The updated Triber is available in 6 variants priced from INR 5.99 lac. Renault has made a few changes to the 2024 Triber including a digital instrument cluster sourced from the Kiger, a wireless charger, and electrically adjustable side mirrors. Lastly, the 2024 Kiger is priced from INR 6.0  lac and comes available in 4 new variants. Updates include semi-leatherette seats with a leatherette steering wheel, auto-folding side mirrors with a “welcome-goodbye” sequence, and a bezel-less auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The turbo-petrol variants now get red brake calipers.

With these updates and planned new car launches, Renault is poised to regain its footing in the Indian car market over the next three years. With a renewed lineup and a deliberate emphasis on electric vehicles, Renault is about to begin an exciting new chapter in its Indian operations, aiming to provide customers with a wide range of creative, cutting-edge, and reasonably priced automobiles.
