Toyota C-HR Becomes Best-Selling Crossover SUV in Japan

Toyota has announced that the C-HR has become the best selling crossover SUV in Japan. According to figures from Japanese Automotive Manufacturers Association (JAMA), the carmaker has sold 117,299 units of C-HR last year, making it the country’s best selling vehicle in it’s segment.

Launched towards the end of 2016, the C-HR comes equipped with either a 1.2 liter turbocharged unit mated to a CVT gearbox, or a hybrid powertain that combines a 1.8 liter unit to an electric motor, capable to run 30.2 kilometers per liter on Japanese JC08 cycle.

All variants in Japan comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P suite as standard, incorporating Pre-collision Safety, Active Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning and Automatic High Beams. Toyota also introduced dual-tone exterior color schemes in August, as well as special edition model with LED headlights and taillights and sequential LED indicators in November.
