Chery showcased a number of vehicles at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, including the all new flagship Tiggo8 SUV and the new Arrizo GX sedan, featuring the brand’s latest LION Intelligent Cloud System.

The Arrizo GX is Chery’s second vehicle built on the new M1X platform, it has been improved in body, design, driving performance, intelligence, interconnected functions and other areas. The M1X platform is jointly developed by Chery and JLR (Jaguar Land Rover).
The M1X platform possesses competitive advantages with exceptional performance in vehicle comfort, safety and economy. Chery calls the platform its “new weapon” in fierce market competition. The M1X platform provides better head space in both the front and rear seat rows, and higher ground clearance.
The M1X platform is compatible with variable dimensions, it functions as the platform for 5-seat and 7-seat models with wheelbase ranging between 2650mm and 2800mm, ground clearance between 120mm and 130mm and sitting space between 863mm and 945mm. The allows a flexible vehicle design and will improve the vehicle development process while reducing costs.

According to Chinese media, the length of the Arrizo GX sedan is 4,700mm, which is 128mm longer than that of Arrizo 5 sedan and 48mm more compared to the Arrizo 7 sedan. The wheelbase is 2670 mm, the same as in the Arrizo 5 (Arrizo 7 has a 2,700mm wheelbase). The remaining dimensions of all three sedans are the same with 1,825mm in width, and 1,482mm in height.
For the sake of comparison, the 11th gen Corolla in our market has a length of 4,620mm and the 10th gen Civic is 4,630 in length. The Arrizo GX with a length of 4,700mm is longer than both Corolla and Civic. Similarly the Arrizo GX is wider and taller but has a slightly shorter wheelbase than the above mentioned two.

The design of the front Arrizo GX has been made in harmony with the new corporate style of the brand. In particular, the sedan has its grille, headlights and LED DRLs, same as in the Tiggo8 SUV. The Arrizo GX is expected to carry 1.5 liter turbocharged engine having a maximum power of 147hp and a peak torque of 210Nm, paired to a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox.

The Chery Arrizo GX will likely go on sale in China towards Q3 2018, while it is expected to reach export markets as early as 2019.
