Renault has launched the updated BS-VI compliant 2020 Kwid hatchback as well as the Triber 5+2 seat MPV in India. The price of 2020 Renault Kwid starts from INR 2.92 lac whereas the Triber is priced from INR 4.99 lac. Both these cars have seen an increase of INR 9,000 with the BS-VI upgrade.

Like its predecessor, the new Renault Kwid is available with 2 petrol engines– 0.8-liter with 54 hp and 72 Nm and 1.0 liter with 68 hp and 91 Nm of torque. Both the engines are offered with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, with the 1.0 liter version having an optional 5-speed AMT.
Renault Kwid comes with features such as split headlamps, silver streak DRLs, multi-tone side mirrors, roof rails, 14-inch volcano grey multi-spoke alloy wheels and SUV-like skid plates. Inside there is a fully digital instrument cluster with LED illumination, 8-inch Medianav Evolution touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and reversing camera. Standard safety equipment includes a driver’s airbag, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders for driver and passenger, a speed alert system and reverse parking sensors.

On the other hand, Renault Triber is powered by a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine that churns out 71 hp and 96 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or AMT. Exterior wise it gets triple edge chrome grille, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, eagle beak tail lamps, SUV skid plates, roof rails and electrically adjustable side mirrors. Inside there is a fully digital LED instrument cluster, 8-inch MediaNav Evolution touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cooled lower glove box, dual air conditioning system, smart access card and engine start/stop button.
In terms of safety, 4 airbags, speed alert system, reversing camera, rear parking sensors and seatbelt reminder comes as standard to comply with the new stringent regulations. While the Kwid and the Triber are the maiden Renault vehicles to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms which will officially take effect from the 1st of April 2020 , the company has announced that it will launch the updated Duster and Captur models before April.
